FUNCTION OF THE BOTTOM GRID

The QuickStart® system was created to facilitate the lighting of the Loewy charcoal barbecue. How does it work? First of all, remove the bottom grid and insert three rolled torches of newspaper into the lighting pipe. Replace the grid. Then place a pile of charcoal or briquettes in the barbecue tub. Light the newspaper with a long match or lighter through one of the two holes at the bottom of your Loewy. It is important to create sufficient air circulation. You can do this with the adjustable air supply at the bottom of your appliance. This way, air will circulate from the bottom to the top through the holes of the bottom grid. This will stir up the fire in your barbecue tub. After about 15 minutes your coals will glow. The bottom grid is therefore indispensable in this process. After your barbecue session, you need to clean your barbecue bowl. When using a Loewy barbecue, apply the QuickStop system (except from the smallest model). Remove the bottom grid with a tong and wipe all ashes and leftovers in the tube. These will fall into the base of your Loewy where they will be extinguished. You will need to fill the base with water beforehand. When the appliance has cooled down completely, empty the base. Also with an Adam charcoal barbecue, you need to remove the bottom grid afterwards to sweep your ashes and other leftovers into the tube. These end up in Adam's ash can. You can easily unscrew and empty this ash can afterwards. Good riddance!
